Syracuse might have problems after losing so much talent to the NBA draft, but at least one of the solutions should be eligible to compete for the Orange in the 2014-15 season.

Chris McCullough, a 6-10 forward from the Bronx who played this year at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, achieved the qualifying test score he’d been working toward, according to the Syracuse Post-Standard.

A source told the newspaper’s Donna Ditota that McCullough had reached the ACT score he needed for freshman eligibility. According to previous reports McCullough had recently taken both the SAT and ACT.

Like all freshmen, he still will have to be processed through the NCAA’s eligibility center to be declared ready for college basketball this fall.

McCullough was ranked the No. 18 player in the 2014 recruiting class by Scout.com. The Orange are hoping he will help the team recover from the early departures of point guard Tyler Ennis and small forward Jerami Grant following a 28-6 season that ended in the NCAA Round of 32.
