On Sunday, Rays shortstop Yunel Escobar stole third base with two outs after Tampa Bay was up 8-3 in the bottom of the seventh -- a move that ruffled the feathers of the Red Sox.

Red Sox catcher David Ross made his displeasure known by shouting down the basepaths to Escobar, who took a step toward Boston's dugout.

And that's when — due to baseball's ridiculous unwritten "rules" — the benches emptied.

Jonny Gomes came up to Escobar and shoved him in the face, resulting in his ejection.

He was joined by Escobar and Sean Rodriguez.

Some of baseball's unwritten rules remain a topic solely so players can complain other players, managers can complain about other managers and fans can feel some kind of excitement for the 10 minutes of action that may occasionally exist in a baseball game.

So, uh, carry on.
