It's been a long season for the Boston Red Sox.
They won the 2013 World Series, but they entered the weekend in last place in the AL East, percentage points behind the Tampa Bay Rays. The Red Sox were swept in their most recent homestand, losing three games to the Tigers and three to the Blue Jays at Fenway Park. Overall, their losing skid has reached eight games heading into Saturday's contest at Tampa Bay.
After Friday's 1-0 loss, designated hitter David Ortiz didn't mince words.
Ortiz: "I've got nothing to say. We stink."
