The Toronto Blue Jays have selected pitcher Jeff Hoffman from East Carolina with the ninth overall pick in the 2014 MLB Draft.
Hoffman was in consideration for the first few picks, but recently had Tommy John surgery, which knocked him down a few notches. But this is the first of two picks the Blue Jays have in the first 11 picks, and the track record for TJ surgery recovery are pretty good. So the Jays selected Hoffman, and they’ll help him through the rehab process.
So Jeff Hoffman is a risk because he had TJ surgery. That makes the eight guys drafted ahead of him locks to make it? #MLBDraft
