Mark Teixeira injury update Yankees 1B down again with sore wrist image

Mark Teixeira's surgically repaired wrist is acting up again, which means more time on the bench for the Yankees first baseman.

Teixeira left Saturday's game after two at-bats. He'll sit out Sunday and Monday's games.

"Our feeling, right now, is that it's going to be (a) short term (injury)," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reportrers after the Yankees' 3-1 victory over the Twins.

Teixeira missed three games this week at St. Louis because of soreness in his wrist and returned to the lineup Friday night. He has been limited to 33 starts at first base in the Yankees' first 54 games. Kelly Johnson has been the main backup with 17 starts.

Teixeira is hitting .242 with 25 RBIs and a team-leading nine home runs, but is in the midst of a 5-for-32 slump.
