Jackson State baseball coach Omar Johnson did express gratitude for a box truck full of gear donated by Mississippi State after JSU's team bus caught fire on a highway, forcing the school to cancel a game earlier this month.
No one was injured in the fire, but all of the team's gear on board was reduced to ashes.
An edited video of Johnson's response to comment on the Bulldogs' generosity gained attention for appearing to be cold and unappreciative. The interview originally aired on ESPN.
“We appreciate everybody trying to help us out," said Johnson in a clip of the full interview that appeared on ESPN.com.
