Oakland A's OF Josh Reddick famously has embraced George Michael's '80s cheese classic "Careless Whisper" as his walk-up song (and also his Twitter background picture). Now, the team wants Michael to get in on the fun.

The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports the A's have approached the one-time pop superstar to see if he wants to appear at the O.co Coliseum soon.

"There’s no official word yet on whether Michael will show, but there has been contact and the A’s are hopeful they can pull it off," she writes.

"Careless Whisper" (credited to Wham! in the United States and Canada, to Michael elsewhere) was a smash hit across the world and climbed to the top of the U.S. pop charts in early 1985. But it's been a long time since the ballad had much pop cultural relevance. Now the fun-loving Reddick has changed that.

Oh, and there's no word on whether the team has approached Andrew Ridgeley about an appearance.

Just in case you need the whole song ...
