Now that's the way to get yourself noticed: Diamondbacks minor leaguer Jon Griffin belted four home runs in as many at-bats Wednesday night.
Griffin went deep in the fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth innings for the Double-A Mobile BayBears against the Cubs' Double-A affiliate, the Tennessee Smokies. Another feather in his cap: The first homer was against longtime major leaguer Joel Pineiro, who's trying to make a comeback.
Griffin finished 5-for-6 (the other hit was a single) with seven RBIs. The 25-year-old first baseman nearly doubled his season home run total; he came in with five. A 21st-round draft pick of the D-backs in 2011 out of UCF, Griffin hit a career-high 28 homers in 2012.
The guy who hit in front of Griffin on Wednesday, David Peralta, didn't have too bad a night, either: 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs. But he didn't hit four bombs.
Mobile won the Southern League game, 17-7.
UPDATE: Griffin homered his first time up Thursday, giving him five in a row. He then went hitless in his next four plate appearances.
