Five schools have punched their tickets to the College World Series in Omaha: Texas, Louisville, California-Irvine, Vanderbilt and Texas Tech.
The remaining three series — Maryland-Virginia, Louisiana-Lafayette-Ole Miss and Pepperdine-TCU — end Monday in a winner-take-all Game 3. The College World Series will begin Saturday, June 14.
Sunday's games
Vanderbilt 12, Stanford 5
Vandy entered the NCAA tournament having lost six of their last 11, but thanks to some fresh faces and some big wins, Vanderbilt is riding high and headed to the College World Series.
Vince Conde and John Norwood had three hits and two RBIs each and Vanderbilt combined for six runs in the seventh and eighth innings to beat Stanford 12-5 Sunday to advance to Omaha for the second time in program history and first since 2011.
Pepperdine 3, TCU 2
Pepperdine's Aaron Brown beat TCU with his arm — from the mound and center field.
Brown pitched seven scoreless innings, then made a game-saving throw from center as the Waves held on for a 3-2 victory Sunday night. They forced a deciding third game in the NCAA Fort Worth super regional for a spot in the College World Series.
Texas Tech 1, College of Charleston 0
Two days. Two games. No runs allowed.
Dylan Dusek turned in his fourth consecutive scoreless start and Texas Tech advanced to the College World Series for the first time with a 1-0 victory over the College of Charleston on Sunday.
Virginia 7, Maryland 3
Maryland's Mike Shawaryn was having a fine outing on the mound until the seventh inning, when Virginia lit up the starter for three runs and an insurmountable deficit.
The Cavaliers' win forces a series-deciding Game 3.
Mississippi 5, LA-Lafayette 2
Facing elimination, the Rebels' bats came alive during a tie game in the eighth inning.
A gem from left-handed starting pitcher Christian Trent, who was drafted in the 29th round of the MLB Draft on Saturday, has Mississippi still breathing.
