7月19日（日本時間20日）にカザフスタンのフィギュアスケート選手、デニス・テン（25歳）を刺殺したことを容疑者が自白したとカザフスカン警察当局が発表した。容疑者2名が拘束されている。

カザフスタンのアリスタンベク・ムカメディウリ文化スポーツ大臣は「デニス・テン選手は素晴らしいフィギュアスケーターで、我々のレジェンド、誇りであった。考えならない悲劇であり、修復不能な喪失だ」と述べた。
