Various titles are on the line when WWE heads to France for Backlash. It is the first PLE event in the country for WWE, looking to expand its reach.

The main event will be Cody Rhodes defending the Undisputed WWE Title against AJ Styles. Rhodes finished a two-year story with Roman Reigns, beating Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to end a 3-plus year reign. Styles won a number one contender match to challenge Rhodes. The newly aggressive Styles looks to make his reign a short one.

Rhodes finally won a title he dreamed of holding. Now that he “finished the story,” he has to make the case against Styles that the story mattered.

“I told AJ Styles, this is a dream match for some people, sure. To me, it’s a legit must win. Not just must win, but must dominate. Must show something,” Rhodes said on the Cheap Heat podcast via WrestleTalk. “Whether you loved Roman or didn’t like Roman, Roman has been your champ for three years. Now we’re looking, here is the guy closing the shows. How is he going to close the shows? What is he going to be like? Was it just for that moment, or is there more?

“I’d like to let people know there is so much more meat on the bone. There is so much more to me, and this run is the chance to validate it. It’s the mindset of ‘you’re never doing enough. Have to keep going.’ Everyone I know who is successful has that mindset, and that’s where I’m at.”

Also on the show, Damian Priest defends the World Heavyweight Title against Jey Uso, Bayley battles Naomi and Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women's Title, and Asuka and Kairi Sane defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill.

Randy Orton and Kevin Owens vs. Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga round out the card.
