The United States women's national team is now one win away from an eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
Team USA turned in their most impressive performance of the Paris Olympics, leading by as many as 30 points in a wire-to-wire 85-64 win over Australia in the Olympic semifinals. With the win, the U.S. national team has now won 60 consecutive games at the Olympics.
Breanna Stewart led the way with another superb all-around performance, scoring 16 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Jackie Young scored 14 points and dished out five assists, and A'ja Wilson chipped in with 10 points, eight boards, and four blocks.
For the Opals, Isobel Borlase scored a team-high 11 points while Tess Madgen and Marianna Tolo each scored 10 points in the game. Australia will play for Bronze on Sunday.

1:02 p.m.: Point differential no longer matters but Australia put forth a solid effort in the fourth.
Team USA, however, led wire-to-wire en route to a 21-point victory and a spot in the gold medal game against the winner of a clash between France and Belgium.
Australia will take on the loser for a chance to win bronze, which is the program's first opportunity to medal since 2012.
12:51 p.m.: There's absolutely no quit in this Opals squad. A quick 8-0 run has made the deficit a little more respectable and prompted a timeout from USA head coach Cheryl Reeve.

Copper's up to eight points in 12 minutes of action and Team USA leads by 30 points in the fourth quarter. Timeout on the floor as this one winds down.

12:41 p.m.: Team USA looks primed to cruise into this year's gold medal game.
After another dominant quarter, the Americans take a 26-point lead into the fourth. They're 10 minutes away from an opportunity to compete for an eighth straight Olympic gold.
Breanna Stewart has 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists to lead Team USA while Jackie Young has scored 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. America has 26 assists on 27 field goals.
Tess Madgen is the only member of the Opals in double figures with a team-high 10 points. Australia continues to struggle from the field.
12:34 p.m.: Now the Americans are beginning to run away.
A transition bucket from Jackie Young followed by a Breanna Stewart and-one make it a 27-point advantage for the Americans with under three minutes left in the quarter.

A triple from Chelsea Gray pushes the advantage back up to 20 points before a response from Ezi Magbegor.

12:07 p.m.: A late 3-pointer from Tess Madgen stops the bleeding but Australia trails by 18 going into the half.
Team USA is led by 11 points from Breanna Stewart while Jackie Young has added 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field. The Americans are shooting 53.0 percent from the field and have 18 assists on 19 field goals.
Madgen's eight points lead the way for the Opals, who are shooting an icy 11-of-33 from the field. Australia faces an uphill battle against an American squad that turned in one of its most complete halves of the tournament.
12:04 p.m.: One final timeout on the floor as the first half nears the end.
The USA has created defense with its offense and has spread the ball around with 17 assists on 18 made field goals. As a result, the Americans lead by 19 late in the half.

12 p.m.: With just under four minutes to go in the half, Team USA's lead is up to 17 points.
After slow starts in previous games, the Americans have stepped up to the challenges that Australia present and remain in command.

11:53 a.m.: A triple from Jewell Loyd makes it a 10- 0 run for the USA to open the second quarter.
The American lead is now up to 14 points, causing Sandy Brondello to signal for a timeout.

The Americans' scoring effort is led by eight points from Jackie Young, who has been on a hot run since Sunday's group play finale against Germany. Continuing a trend from throughout the Olympics, Team USA has eight assists on 10 field goals.
Five points from Tess Magden lead Australia as the Opals are enjoying contributions from across the board.
11:43 a.m.: After an early USA flurry, Australia has settled in and responded.
After buckets from Tess Magden and Jade Melbourne, Australia has cut the deficit back to two points with just over a minute to go in the first.

Napheesa Collier and Jackie Young have scored four points apiece for the Americans, who are 6-of-8 from the field. They've assisted on five of their six made field goals.
