The Utah Jazz announced on Friday that Hall of Fame head coach Jerry Sloan has passed away at the age of 78 due to complications from Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia.

Sloan spent 11 seasons in the NBA as a player, making two All-Star teams and six All-Defensive Teams — four First Team selections, two Second Team selections. He went on to coach the Chicago Bulls for three seasons and the Utah Jazz for 23 seasons following his playing career.

According to Basketball-Reference, the only head coaches with more regular-season wins in NBA history than Sloan are Gregg Popovich, Lenny Wilkens and Don Nelson.

As soon as the news broke of Sloan's passing, the NBA family took to social media to share their thoughts and prayers.
