Indian cyclist Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam bagged a silver medal in the 1km individual time trial at the Asian Track Cycling Championship 2023 in Niali, Malaysia on Monday.
The Indian clocked a timing of 1:00.863 and finished second behind Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis of Malaysia who topped the time trial with a timing of 1:00.559.

The 21-year-old's timing of 1:00.863 is the new national record of India. He surpassed his own previous national record of 1:01.724 in 2022.

The Asian Track Cycling Championship 2023 is a qualifying event for the Paris 2024 Olympics where cyclists collect ranking points although, the 1km individual time trial is a non-Olympic event.
This was Ronaldo Singh's fourth medal of his career and third individual medal at the Asian Cycling Championship.

Last week, he created a national record in the Asian Track Cycling Championship 2023 as he clocked 9.877s and finished 10th in the men's sprint qualifying round and progressed to the round of 16. He eventually finished 11th.
