Indian cyclist Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam bettered his own national record in the Asian Track Cycling Championship 2023 as he clocked 9.877s and finished 10th in the men's sprint qualifying round and progressed to the round of 16 on Thursday at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Malaysia.
Ronaldo Singh's previous national record was 9.910s which he achieved at the Track Cycling World Championships in 2022.

At the Asian Championships 2022, the Indian cyclist won the silver medal in the men’s sprint event. It was India’s first-ever individual silver medal at the continental meet.
Other than finishing second at the Asian Championships, Ronaldo also bagged the bronze medal in the 1km time trial category.
In the last edition of the Asian Championship, India bagged a total of nine medals which included one silver and eight bronze medals.
The Asian Championship 2023 began on June 14 and will go on till June 19. The competition also helps cyclists gain crucial qualification points who are trying to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
