The Toronto Raptors will be without Kyle Lowry for some time.

The team announced on Sunday that Lowry has sustained a "fracture of the distal phalanx of his left thumb." The five-time All-Star will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

ESPN's Rachel Nichols was the first to report the news.

Lowry suffered the injury in Toronto's win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday. He said after the game that he initially thought it was "a jam."

Lowry has gotten the 2019-20 season off to a strong start. Prior to his injury, he was averaging 21.8 points, 6.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game, doing so on 47.8 percent shooting from the field and 42.6 percent from the perimeter. He's already scored 20 or more points six times after having 15 such games all of last season.

Without Lowry, the Raptors will lean more on Fred VanVleet, Norman Powell and Pascal Siakam.

The Raptors have four more games remaining on their Western Conference road trip. They'll play the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, the LA Clippers on Tuesday, the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday and the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday

The Raptors return to Toronto on Nov. 18 for a matchup with the Charlotte Hornets.

A two-week timeline means Lowry could return at the end of the month.
