Rafael Nadal - one of the most successful tennis players in the long history of the sport - has confirmed his retirement.
The Spaniard has entered the pantheon of tennis greats across his incredible career as a 14-time French Open champion. Nadal won his latest championship at Roland-Garros in 2022, just months after claiming a second career Australian Open crown, putting him on 22 major singles titles — second behind men's game outright leader Novak Djokovic on 24.
Injuries have played a major role in Nadal's tournament appearances in the last 12 months, with his 2024 French Open First Round exit the only Majors showing of the year, after withdrawing from the US and Australian Opens, plus Wimbledon.
Nadal has confirmed his plan to bring down the curtain on his career after the Davis Cup in November in Malaga and that could mean he could yet add to his remarkable earnings.
