It is a measure of Novak Djokovic's brilliance and longevity that the 24-time grand slam tournament champion remains by far the highest earner in tennis history – a status he only looks set to further cement as he contests this year's US Open.

Djokovic's much-publicised visa fiasco ruled him out of the 2022 Australian Open before he missed the US Open at the end of that year due to his vaccination status.

However, the 37-year-old has left no doubt over his enduring pre-eminence by storming to victory in the first three of the four majors in 2023.

While he is yet to win a grand slam in 2024, he recently achieved a feat that had eluded him for his entire career – Olympic gold.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Djokovic is worth an estimated $240 million (£189.3m).

The outlet says Djokovic earns the vast majority of his endorsement income from brands including clothing line Lacoste. Between June 2019 and June 2020, he raked in $45m (£35.5m) in commercial earnings.

Djokovic used a paid social media post in 2021 to announce that he had entered a partnership with luxury watchmakers Hublot.

To date, as per the ATP, Djokovic has made over $184m (£141m) in career earnings, making him the highest earner the sport has ever seen.

Rafael Nadal ($134.9m/£106.8m) is next on the all-time list. The Spanish great has missed Wimbledon this year through injury, and will also sit out the US Open.

In 2022, Reuters reported that Djokovic bought an 80 per cent controlling stake in QuantBioRes, a Danish biotech firm that has been working on a cure for COVID-19 without vaccination, in 2020.

Djokovic also invests in his eponymous foundation, which develops early childhood education projects in Serbia.

Djokovic's engaged Instagram army of more than 15 million accounts makes him one of the most followed tennis players in the world.

The seven-time Wimbledon winner has scaled 9.3 million Twitter followers and in excess of 10 million on Facebook.

In comparison, Nadal's 21.5 million followers on Instagram make him the most followed tennis player on the planet, while Roger Federer, whose record eight Wimbledon singles titles is a mark in Djokovic's sights this year, has 12.7 million.
