The family of Novak Djokovic have ramped up hostilities with Australian authorities at a press conference in Belgrade.
Djokovic is currently in quarantine at a hotel in Melbourne while he awaits the outcome of his case which is due in court on Monday.
The world number one and nine-time Australian Open champion was denied entry into Australia after his visa was cancelled on Thursday.
His father, Srdjan Djokovic, accused the Australian government of using his son as a pawn in a political game.
"They're keeping him in captivity," Srdjan said.
"They're stomping all over Novak to stomp all over Serbia and Serbian people.
"[Scott] Morrison and his like have dared attack Novak to bring Serbia to its knees.
"Serbia has always shown that [Novak] comes from a proud nation.
"This has nothing to do with sports, this is a political agenda.
"Novak is the best player and the best athlete in the world, but several hundred million people from the West can't stomach that."
Djokovic had previously been granted a medical exemption to play in the Australian Open, where he is attempting to become the first man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles.
Upon landing in Melbourne, Djokovic was, upon request, unable to provide more documentation surrounding the circumstances of his exemption.
His mother Dijana said the treatment her son had received was "not human."
"Our Novak, our pride," she said. "Novak is Serbia, and Serbia is Novak. They want to clip his wings, but we know how strong he is.
"Since yesterday, last 24 hours, they are keeping him as a prisoner.
"It's just not fair – it's not human.
"I just hope that he will be strong as we are trying also to be very strong to give him some energy to keep on going.
"I hope that he will win."
Serbian president Aleksandar Vučić also weighed in, asking for the tennis star to be moved to different accomodation.
"All are asking just one thing: to let Novak move out from this horrific hotel into a rented home," Vučić said.
"I am afraid this type of political ranting will continue. They want to prove something else. When you can’t beat someone then you do these kind of things."
