14-time winner Rafael Nadal's withdrawal from the French Open this year has resulted in a more open field without the presence of the most successful men's singles player in the history of the tournament.
Carlos Alcaraz is the top seed at Roland-Garros in men's singles, while two-time champion Novak Djokovic is aiming to win the title for the first time since 2021. A French Open win this year will make him the most decorated men's singles player of all time with 23 grand slams to his name.
The man Djokovic beat in the final in 2021, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and 2022 finalist Casper Ruud are also involved this time.
Daniil Medvedev, the world No.2 and winner of five titles already in 2023, is also likely to be a firm favourite in Paris.

French Open prediction, odds
Nadal was a very short favourite before pulling out of the tournament, which left 2022 US Open winner Carlos Alcaraz as the clear number one with bookmakers.
Alcaraz has never semi-finals in Paris. He lost to Alex Zverev in the quarter-final last year. He is considered more likely to triumph than Novak Djokovic, who is appearing at the major for the 19th consecutive year.
