India to travel to Thailand for The King's Cup in September image

The Indian team will participate in the 49th King’s Cup 2023 to be held in Thailand, the All India Football Federation confirmed on Saturday. 

The Blue Tigers are currently playing in the third edition of the Intercontinental Cup where they are set to lock horns against Lebanon on Sunday at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. 

After the Intercontinental Cup, they will be participating in the 2023 SAFF Championship looking to defend their title won in Maldives back in 2021.

The Blue Tigers previously competed in The King's Cup in Thailand in 2019 where they finished in the third position.

The King's Cup will be held from September 7-10.

Hosts Thailand, Iraq and Lebanon are the other three teams in the four-nation tournament.

What is the format of The King's Cup?

It is a  knockout tournament. The semi-finals will be held on September 7, with the third-place match and the final scheduled for September 10.
