Tim Duncan spent 19 seasons as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. This upcoming season, he'll get to impact the team at a different capacity.
On Tuesday, the Spurs announced that Duncan has been added to Gregg Popovich's bench as an assistant coach along with former basketball operations intern Will Hardy.

In the official release, Popovich quipped “It is only fitting, that after I served loyally for 19 years as Tim Duncan’s assistant, that he returns the favor.”
Duncan, the No. 1 overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft had a legendary playing career in San Antonio, earning 15 All-Star selections, 15 All-NBA team selections and 15 All-Defensive Team selections to go along with five NBA titles, three Finals MVPs and two league MVPs.
Following his retirement in 2016, Duncan remained close to the Spurs and could often be found around the team and its facilities. He now has an opportunity to be more hands-on to aid with the development of the team as he officially joins the coaching ranks.
