Vinsanity Scale: Kings De'Aaron Fox throws down vicious dunk against the Grizzlies image

Welcome to the Vinsanity Scale! In honour of one of the greatest in-game dunkers in NBA history, the Vinsanity Scale rates dunks on a scale of 1-4. Similar to the  Horry Scale , the dunk in question is graded on the game situation, difficulty and celebration to answer one question: Would it make Half Man, Half Amazing proud?

In the third matchup of the season between Sacramento and Memphis, Kings guard De'Aaron Fox got the crowd going early in the third quarter with a vicious slam on John Konchar.

The dunk

Game situation

Kings point guard De’Aaron Fox was back in the starting lineup for Sunday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies at Golden 1 Center after clearing NBA health and safety protocols. Fox was cleared to return Sunday morning after being listed as questionable on the team’s injury report Saturday. He had missed the past four games for the Kings.

The dunk came early in the third quarter as the Kings were on a break from a missed shot by the Kings. Tyrese Haliburton found the streaking Fox - who may have gotten away with some extra steps. Fox cocked the ball back with two hands, and then at the last second decided to finish the play ferociously with one hand.

The dunk brought the Kings within three points at the time, but unfortunately for them, it was all downhill from there on out.

Difficulty

Overall the difficulty level is high purely because of the wherewithal Fox had knowing that John Konchar was running back ready to challenge him. It seemed like Fox paused midair for a split second, weighed up his options, then decided to finish strong with one hand.

Reaction

Fox's teammates could already sense something was brewing as he steamed downcourt and were ready to jump off the bench as soon as he dunked it.

Here's another angle of the dunk. Watch his teammates get ready to explode.

Vinsanity Scale

The degree of difficulty was there, but Fox loses a Vinsanity point for giving up a 24-5 run in the space of four minutes right after the slam and eventually losing the game, 127-102. This is the third game the Kings have lost to the Grizz this season, and they have given up at least 120 points in every encounter.

This won't be a Dunk of the Year candidate, but it was still very enjoyable to watch unfold in real-time. Three Vinsanitys .
