The 2024 summer transfer window has officially SLAMMED shut as Premier League clubs have wrapped up their business until the new year.
While plenty of deals were completed on deadline day, the most expensive were signed ahead of the final day of the window as a handful of big-name players made moves.
Deadline day saw Raheem Sterling switch blue for red as he moved from Chelsea to Arsenal on loan. Jadon Sancho, however, swapped the opposite colours as he changed from Man United to Chelsea on an initial loan deal but with an obligation to buy him on a permanent move next summer.
The Sporting News followed Deadline Day live and provided real-time updates below.

10:44 pm.: Wolves announce the signing of Andre from Fluminense. The centre-midfielder arrives at Molineux just in the nick of time as just 15 minutes are remaining in the summer transfer window.
Over the past four years, Andre has played nearly 200 games for Fluminense, scoring his first professional goal in July 2021. He won several titles, including the Copa Libertadores and Recopa Sudamericana, and earned five caps for Brazil, though he missed the Copa America due to injury.

10:12 pm.: Reports are all suggesting that Sterling's move to Arsenal will be completed and is in the final stages as lawyers are preparing the documents.
10:00 pm.: We are into the final hour! Will Chelsea make another blockbuster signing? They're reportedly still waiting on a green light from Victor Osimhen.
9:58 pm.: Wow, what do you make of this price? United signed him from Dortmund three summers ago for £73 million!
🔴 Jadon Sancho to Chelsea on loan with obligation very close. Future fee, I believe, is between £20m and £25m. Big saving on wages for United - and gets a problem (for them) out of the door.

9:52 pm.: The reason for the hold-up on the Sterling to Arsenal deal...
Chelsea want a loan fee for Sterling in Arsenal negotiations - as they have with all loans out - but it's late in the evening to be agreeing that.
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) August 30, 2024
9:44 pm.: BREAKING! Jadon Sancho has completed a loan move to Chelsea from Man United. The deal states that the Blues must purchase Sancho on a permanent deal next summer, however, the price is yet to be reported.

9:00 pm.: Two hours remain in the window!
8:51 pm.: An outgoing in the forward department at Arsenal could be Reiss Nelson as Ipswich Town have shown interest in a loan deal. The Gunners could be inclined to allow his departure if they are to bring in Raheem Sterling.
8:24 pm.: Man United have confirmed the departure of Scott McTominay to Napoli. The Scotsman was a fan favorite as he came through the youth ranks and played a vital role in last year's campaign.
8:15pm.: Another outgoing on the cards at Chelsea is Raheem Sterling to Arsenal! Those talks are underway and are 'advancing'. The former City man has been frozen out of the Blues squad by new coach Enzo Maresca and could reunite with Arteta, who was one of the coaches at City during Sterling's spell there.
7:34 pm.: We've been discussing all day the possible incomings at Chelsea but how about the outgoings? The Athletic's David Ornstein has just tweeted the following: "Crystal Palace reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Trevoh Chalobah. Deal for versatile 25yo defender straight season-long loan - no option or obligation to buy next summer. Transfer includes loan fee from #CPFC to CFC."
7:12 pm.: More Man United news as they announce the signing of exciting young prospect Sekou Kone. The Mali international signs for just over £1 million.
We're proud to announce the signing of exciting midfielder, Sekou Kone! 🇲🇱🔴#MUFC
— Manchester United (@ManUtd) August 30, 2024
6:37 pm.: The hold up in the Sancho to Chelsea deal is reportedly the 'obligation to buy' part of the move as United have 'deliberately' deals for senior players this summer that are ‘temporary’ transfers according to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.
6:18 pm.: Widespread reports have come out to suggest McTominay's move to Napoli has just been signed which can also see Manuel Ugarte complete his deal to Manchester.
5:31 pm.: Liverpool have agreed to send Stefan Bajcetic on loan to Salzburg whose head coach is Pep Lijnders, Jurgen Klopp's former assistant at Anfield. Lijnders adds Bajcetic after already signing Bobby Clark from Liverpool in a £10 million deal.
Stefan Bajcetic has joined Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the rest of the season, subject to international clearance.

Best of luck, Stefan 👊🔴
4:57 pm.: Paris Saint-Germain's full-back Juan Bernat has moved to Villarreal on a season-long loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign. The 31-year-old defender joined PSG from Bayern Munich in 2018, and was loaned to Benfica last season but was sidelined for most of the campaign due to injury.
4:30 p.m.: Another Premier League side that is looking to do business is Wolves as they hope to sign Ajax's Carlos Forbs before the deadline.

3:53 p.m.: It's another Sancho update: This comes from David Ornstein at The Athletic who writes: "Chelsea expected to strike deal with Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho before transfer window closes. No formal agreements in place yet but situation advancing that way + #MUFC winger wants to complete proposed #CFC move."
2:51 p.m.: Talks are also ongoing between Ipswich and Chelsea over Armando Broja. The striker's move broke down earlier this week due to his injury, but negotiations have resumed today.
2:47 p.m.: Sancho update: Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea have submitted an official bid for the winger. It's an initial loan, but with potentially better terms for United than the similar offer made by Juventus. Sancho is said to want the move, so it's now up to United.
🚨🔵 EXCL: Chelsea submit official bid to Manchester Utd for Jadon Sancho.

Understand it’s initial loan proposal, similar to terms offered by Juventus but total package higher.
Sancho, OPEN and keen to joining Chelsea so up to the clubs/Man Utd to decide. pic.twitter.com/g7tRFOyzVn
2:26 p.m.: It looks like Chelsea and United are trying to find ways to make the Sancho deal work. Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports says the Red Devils have enquired about a deal for Carney Chukwuemeka, which could be a way to help push through Sancho's transfer. Chukwuemeka only signed for Chelsea in a £20 million deal in August 2022.
As it stands, Jadon Sancho's proposed move to Chelsea from Manchester United is a stand alone deal. However, it is understood United have explored a possible move for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in a separate deal. #MUFC #CFC https://t.co/OUsAXiXERL

2:17 p.m.: This would be a fairly dull deadline day without Chelsea. According to Ben Jacobs, one of their latest attempts at a last-minute deal has fallen through. Everton are said to have been unwilling to enter negotiations over Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

2:07 p.m.: Could we see some last-minute Tottenham business? Not likely, according to Ange Postecoglou. The Spurs boss says their business is done "unless something surprising jumps out".
2:00 p.m.: Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United, is heading to Turkey to complete his move to Fenerbahce. He will face the Red Devils in this season's Europa League.

1:56 p.m.: Arsenal's business may be pretty much done, but Mikel Merino, their latest big signing, is going to have to wait for his debut. Mikel Arteta said today that the midfielder suffered a freak injury that is going to sideline him for a while.
1:42 p.m.: Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner says Marc Guehi is NOT going to Newcastle. "I can confirm [he will stay]," he said. "I was never in doubt. Congrats to the chairman and the owners — they didn't give in."
1:40 p.m.: Interesting update from Erik ten Hag, who says he expects Sancho to STAY at United. "As I know, yeah," said the manager when asked if the player would be staying. "He is a player in our squad and we are happy with him. We need a good squad; we need depth. We have to play many games until January. After the [international] break, we play every third day so we need options."
1:24 p.m.: "You know I cannot talk about any player," says Mikel Arteta with a smile when asked about Raheem Sterling. "I'm not going to talk about this sort of thing."
1:06 p.m.: Liverpool forward Ben Doak is likely to join either Hull City or Middlesbrough on loan today. The Reds see the move as good for the forward's long-term development.

12:36 p.m.: James Ward-Prowse is heading to Nottingham Forest on loan from West Ham.
12:12 p.m.: Meanwhile, Sky Sports is reporting that Chelsea and United are close to an agreement over Sancho. However, the report also says there is plenty still to sort out, including whether it's a straight loan, loan with obligation, or permanent deal.
11:58 a.m.: Sterling latest: It's beginning to sound like the player will STAY at Chelsea, unless there's a development on Arsenal's side.
11:11 a.m.: Could Chelsea turn their attention to Dominic Calvert-Lewin? Everton boss Sean Dyche says there have been no deadline-day offers for the striker as of now. The Blues were interested earlier in the window, and if Everton decide they want to cash in quickly, this is one that can't be ruled out.
Sean Dyche confirms Everton are yet to receive new offers for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Newcastle had a failed approach earlier in the window.

10:51 a.m.: Could Liverpool make a big late move in the market? There's a report that the Reds could be going in for Porto midfielder Alan Varela.
10:49 a.m.: It's starting to look like Raheem Sterling has two options: stay at Chelsea, or join Arsenal. That's certainly what Sky Sports in the UK are reporting. The winger had been touted as a possible makeweight in a deal for Sancho, but it seems United aren't interested in signing him.

10:37 a.m.: Neal Maupay's rather eventful final few days at Everton have ended in a loan move to Marseille. Meanwhile, Wolves have signed Crystal Palace's Sam Johnstone for £10 million.
10:21 a.m.: What's happening with Jadon Sancho today? Well, at the moment, not much. It's been reported in Italy that Juventus have withdrawn their interest in a deal after considering Man United's demands to be too high. That may leave Chelsea has his only option if he wants a deadline-day exit. United are said to want a sale or a loan with an obligation to buy, with a minimum fee of £25 million.
9:56 a.m.: More on Al Ahli's potential double deal for Osimhen and Toney: basically, it's unlikely to happen. The club would need to sell an overseas player in order to make space in the squad for the two strikers, and they would likely need a decent fee for that player in order to afford the double signing. Chelsea fans may yet have some hope.
9:47 a.m.: We still don't know if Chelsea will bring anyone in today, but it looks like one player is on his way out: L'Equipe is reporting that Deivid Washington is to join Strasbourg for €21 million. The French club are part of the BlueCo group that owns Chelsea.
Incredible business from Chelsea.
— Robin Bairner (@RBairner) August 30, 2024
Deivid Washington signed for €16m last summer and they've turned a €5m profit after a stellar season in which he played 25 minutes for the first team.
All this achieved by selling to... themselves. https://t.co/O7siNSbFaR
9:37 a.m.: Newcastle's chase of Marc Guehi looks to be OFF. Eddie Howe, speaking to the media just now, has suggested the club cannot match Crystal Palace's asking price without risking a breach of the Premier League's financial rules.
9:29 a.m.: Arsenal are making deadline-day progress. The Standard reports that the Gunners have agreed a deal to sign Neto from Bournemouth on loan. That means Aaron Ramsdale should be clear to join Southampton.
9:23 a.m.: Sky Sports in the UK are also reporting that Toney to Al Ahli is ON.
9:12 a.m.: More on Sky Italy's story on Osimhen: the striker will reportedly earn a quite astonishing rough figure of £650,000 per week should he move to Al Ahli. Even for a Premier League club of Chelsea's means, that's an offer they cannot match.
9:02 a.m.: Arne Slot is speaking to the media this morning. He says he is not expecting Liverpool to do any business today, but he's not ruling out the prospect of last-minute arrivals if the right targets become available.
8:58 a.m.: There's potentially a breakthrough in the future of Ivan Toney: Loic Tanzi of L'Equipe reports that Brentford have accepted a transfer bid of €42 million from Al Ahli. That is significantly lower than their original asking price. Would the Saudi side really sign both Toney and Osimhen, though?
Brentford a accepté une offre de 42M€ ce matin pour Ivan Toney d’Al Ahli 🇸🇦 ! #Mercato
— Loïc Tanzi (@Tanziloic) August 30, 2024
8:32 a.m.: Early news out of the UK and Italy suggests Chelsea are going to be disappointed in their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Sky in Italy claim the forward is close to securing a transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.
BREAKING: Victor Osimhen will head to Saudi Arabia to join Al Ahli as revealed by Sky in Italy's Gianluca Di Marzio 🤝 pic.twitter.com/TXDOgWKEfc

8:16 a.m.: This has felt like being a less frantic deadline day than in some previous Premier League transfer windows, but we're still expecting a fair few deals to be done. It's also the end of the window in La Liga today, although Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that Real Madrid will not be signing anyone, while Barcelona pretty much can't if they don't sell first.
8 a.m.: Welcome to Premier League deadline day! Who will get some last-minute business done?
