It seems like Erik ten Hag’s future as Manchester United manager might be hanging by a thread, as key club figures gather in London this Tuesday.
While the Dutchman enjoys a brief holiday, far from the tension, all eyes are on the meeting that could shape his fate.
Manchester United’s majority shareholder, Joel Glazer, has flown in from Florida to join other senior executives to discuss football operations.
This meeting, planned for some time, coincides with the international break, which has freed up schedules. But, given United’s shaky start to the season – with just eight points from their opening seven matches – it’s no surprise that Ten Hag’s position is high on the agenda.

United’s worst Premier League start adds pressure on Erik ten Hag
After a rough start to the Premier League season, Manchester United have managed fewer points than in any previous campaign, including Ten Hag’s own record from last year.
It’s understandable that fans are starting to lose patience. Despite this, sources suggest that Ten Hag hasn’t been told his job is under immediate threat. However, with the club’s football committee considering other managerial options, the pressure is certainly on.

Interestingly, the club had already explored alternative managers over the summer, holding talks with figures like Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel, and Brentford’s Thomas Frank. These names are still in the background, ready to step in if United’s power brokers decide it’s time to make a change.

In addition to Glazer, other senior figures such as Sir Jim Ratcliffe, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox are involved in the talks.
Though some fans spotted Glazer and Ratcliffe together at Old Trafford recently, the meeting was always planned to focus on a wide range of club issues, including football operations and even Old Trafford’s renovation.
Despite the storm of rumors surrounding Ten Hag’s future, there’s still no official word that his job is at risk. Yet, when key decision-makers meet, the discussion might be about more than just boardroom strategies.
Will the Dutchman survive this round of scrutiny, or could we soon see someone like Southgate, Tuchel, or even club legend Ruud van Nistelrooy stepping into the dugout?
