Phoenix Suns' superstar Devin Booker will undergo surgery on his right hand and is expected to be out for at least four weeks according to 98.7 FM Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro.

Booker is expected to have the surgery in Los Angeles and is likely to miss the start of Suns' training camp which is set to begin on September 25.

The 21-year-old signed a five-year $158 million contract extension at the start of the offseason with the Suns sending a clear message that Booker will be a central figure in their rebuilding process.

Booker struggled late last year with the same right hand as the injury plagued him late in the 2017-18 campaign after jamming it in practice. He wore a splint to fight through the injury but ended up missing the last 12 games of the season.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Booker's status for the regular season will become clearer after Monday's surgery.

The Suns will open the regular season on October 17 against Luka Doncic, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks.
