Ben Simmons has agreed to a five-year, $170 million extension with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier this month that the 76ers had offered Simmons a max extension and the two sides were expected to "work through the details toward an eventual agreement."

The No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, Simmons sat out the entire 2016-17 season with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot. He returned the following season and was named Rookie of the Year. He then made his first All-Star Team in 2018-19, posting averages of 16.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
The 76ers are now locked into a core of Simmons, Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris for the foreseeable future. Embiid is under team control until 2022-23 and the team signed Harris to a five-year, $180 million contract this offseason.

The 76ers came close to making the Eastern Conference Finals in the trio's first season together, although they have made a number of changes to their roster since, most notably trading Jimmy Butler to the Miami Heat for a package built around Josh Richardson and signing five-time All-Star Al Horford.
FanDuel currently has Philadelphia's over/under for next season set at 53.5, tying them with the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz for the third-best record in the league.
