Day 8 of the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League is in the books, as there was a full slate consisting of eight consolation games.

16 teams wrapped their time in Las Vegas, playing their fifth game in eight days as we prepare to shift gears to tournament play, which will begin on Day 9. Despite these teams being eliminated from championship contention, there were plenty of highlights and notable storylines from throughout the day.

PJ Dozier stuffed the stat, Malik Newman put forth the biggest scoring performance of the night and Jordan Caroline sparked a huge comeback to lead the Lakers to their first win in Vegas.

Philadelphia 76ers 108, Toronto Raptors 102

76ers: PJ Dozier – 22 points (8-14 FG), 7 rebounds, 7 assists

Raptors: Chris Boucher – 24 points (6-8 FG, 10-12 FT), 7 rebounds, 4 assists

In a high-scoring affair, PJ Dozier led the Sixers to their second win in Las Vegas as he stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points (on 8-for-14 shooting) to go along with seven rebounds and seven assists.


Philadelphia also enjoyed the scoring of Haywood Highsmith (16 points), Marial Shayok (14 points), A.J. Davis (10 points) and Matisse Thybulle (10 points)

The Raptors enjoyed big games from the Canadian duo of Chris Boucher and Lindell Wigginton. Boucher finished with an efficient 24 points (on 6-for-8 shooting) while Wigginton scored 26 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field and 9-for-11 shooting from the charity stripe.

Los Angeles Lakers 88, Golden State Warriors 87

Lakers: Jordan Caroline – 20 points (7-8 FG, 3-4 3FG)

Warriors: Kevin McClain – 24 points (9-16 FG)

After trailing by 24 points at the half, the Lakers staged a furious 31-12 run to make things interesting in the second half.

Jordan Caroline stepped up in a big way off the bench for the Lakers, scoring 20 points on 7-for-8 shooting from the field including 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc as he made sure Los Angeles didn't leave Las Vegas without a win.


Oklahoma City Thunder 69, Team Croatia 68

Thunder: Khadeen Carrington – 4 points, 11 assists, 3 rebounds

Croatia: Antonio Vrankovic – 16 points (8-14 FG), 10 rebounds

OKC just narrowly missed the eight-team tournament with a record of 3-1, but its consolation game against Team Croatia certainly had the intensity of a tournament game.

Croatia, who finished 0-5 in Las Vegas, led throughout the final frame as it appeared they would earn a win before gearing up for the FIBA World Cup. The Thunder – and Devon Hall – had other things in mind.

The Thunder rallied in the fourth, trailing by one point in the game's final moments. Hall took matters into his own hands, scoring a driving layup to put his team ahead for good and ultimtely, delivering the win.


Phoenix Suns 94, Team China 64

Suns: Elie Okobo – 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists

China: Ailun Guo – 15 points (6-9 FG), 3 rebounds, 2 assists

Phoenix got the job done in convincing fashion, and it was a complete team effort.

Five different Suns finished the game in double figures, led by Elie Okobo, Ray Spalding and Retin Obasohan, who each scored 11 points apiece. Undrafted rookie Jalen Lecque finished with nine points, and a few came in emphatic fashion.


Cleveland Cavaliers 98, Sacramento Kings 96 (OT)

Cavaliers: Malik Newman – 33 points (11-17 FG, 4-6 3FG), 4 rebounds

Kings: Brandon Ashley – 18 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals

Malik Newman. On fire!

He posted the top scoring performance of a full day of action, finishing with an efficient 33 points (on 11-for-17 shooting) as the Cavaliers escaped with a two-point win in overtime.


Indiana Pacers 86, LA Clippers 75

Pacers: Alize Johnson – 25 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists

Clippers: Oshae Brissett – 18 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists

Indiana entered the day without a win.

The duo of Alize Johnson and DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell ensured that would change.

Johnson finished with a game-high 25 points (on 10-for-17 shooting) to go along with 13 rebounds and three assists while Akoon-Purcell scored 24 points (on 9-for-21 shooting), grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out three assists of his own.


Portland Trail Blazers 99, Milwaukee Bucks 84

Trail Blazers: Gary Trent Jr. – 28 points, 8 rebounds

Bucks: Bonzie Colson – 14 points, 3 rebounds

Trent closed out the summer in style, finishing with a game-high 28 points to go along with eight rebounds while Jarnell Stokes added 19 points (on 7-for-9 shooting) in 20 minutes of action.

In his second year of summer league action, Trent finishes with averages of 18.8 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.3 rebounds per game. Portland is sure to expect big things from the sharpshooter in Year 2.


Atlanta Hawks 80, San Antonio Spurs 72

Hawks: Nick Ward – 16 points, 13 rebounds

Spurs: Thomas Robinson – 10 points, 11 rebounds

No. 4 overall pick De'Andre Hunter watched from the sidelines as Nick Ward stole the show with a monster 16-point, 13-rebound double. The Michigan State product showcased his old-school game on the inside, making his presence felt on both ends of the floor.

While Ward had the performance of the night, Thomas Robinson recorded a double-double of his own and quite possibly had the highlight of the day with this monster finish.
