Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna has made an impressive leap in the latest doubles ATP Rankings, climbing two spots to secure the world No. 9 position.
This marks Bopanna's return to the top 10 doubles rankings for the first time since June 2016, which is a testament to his remarkable resurgence in this calendar year.
At the start of the 2023 season, the 43-year-old Bopanna was ranked 19.

Bopanna, who achieved a career-best doubles ranking of No. 3 in 2016, has had a stellar season so far. His remarkable victory alongside Australian partner Matthew Ebden at the Indian Wells Masters in March not only earned him the title but also made him the oldest ATP Masters 1000 champion to date.
The Indo-Australian duo showcased their prowess by defeating the current world No. 1 team of Wesley Koolhof and Neil Skupski in the final, as well as overcoming defending champions John Isner and Jack Sock in the semi-finals.
Bopanna and Ebden also claimed victory at the Qatar Open in February and reached the final of the Madrid Open in May, an ATP Masters 1000 event, further solidifying their dominance on the doubles circuit. Their remarkable achievements have positioned them as strong contenders for the upcoming French Open 2023.

It must be noted that Bopanna's sole Grand Slam victory came at Roland Garros in 2017 when he partnered with Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski to secure the mixed doubles title.
In the ATP Rankings for singles, the top-ranked Indian player is Sumit Nagal, currently placed at world No. 256.
Meanwhile, Asian Games bronze medallist Ankita Raina is the highest-ranked Indian at world No. 212 in singles and also leads the doubles rankings, at world No. 149.
