The main draw of the French Open begins on May 28, 2023. 

There have been several golden moments on the red soil in Paris as on seven occasions an Indian has emerged triumphant at the Rolland Garros. In fact, India won its first major Grand Slam in the French Open back in 1997 when Mahesh Bhupathi won the mixed doubles with Rika Hiraki.

Whereas, when Rohan Bopanna won the mixed doubles title with Gabriela Dabrowski in 2017, it was India's last Grand Slam to date. 

Bopanna who recently broke into the top-10 doubles ranking will be trying his luck in this edition of Roland Garros as well.

Who are the Indian tennis players at the French Open 2023?

Ankita Raina, a bronze medallist at the Asian Games, represented India as the sole participant in the qualifying singles competition of the French Open 2023.

Ranked 212th in the world, she started her campaign from the qualifiers and secured a hard-fought victory in the first round against Emeline Dartron, a French wildcard ranked 393rd, with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 6-2. However, she faced defeat in the second round to Japan's Moyuka Uchijima, ranked 145th, with a score of 7-6(7)-6(1), 6-1.

In doubles, Bopanna will team up with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden. Bopanna has previously tasted success at the French Open, winning the mixed doubles title in 2017 alongside Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski.

Additionally, the all-Indian duo of Yuki Bhambri and Saketh Myneni will also be competing in the men's doubles event.

The French Open 2023 is scheduled to conclude on June 11.
