Indian shuttler HS Prannoy reached a career-high of No 7 in the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Prannoy jumped two places to achieve this feat, and is the only Indian shuttler in the top 10 rankings. He has accumulated 66,147 points across 17 tournaments which sees him the overall best ranked Indian badminton.

After him is ace shuttler and two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu who also jumped one place in the women's singles rankings, moving up to 11th place.

Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand also went up two spots to become the world no. 15 in women's doubles. On the other hand, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty dropped down from fifth to seventh in the men's doubles rankings.

The Indian contingent as a whole will be looking to improve upon their rankings and performances after their dismal showing at the Sudirman Cup 2023, which saw them get knocked out by Malaysia early on in the tournament.

When will the Indian badminton player be seen next in action?

After a disappointing performance in Sudirman Cup, Indian players will hope to get back to winning ways at the Malaysia Masters, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur from May 23-28. It is a Super 500 tournament with a total prize money of US$420,000.
