The last time the tournament took place was back in 2017 and it was held in Gorgan, Iran. India won the gold medal in both men's and women's categories.

The Asian Kabaddi Championship is a continental competition that involves various Asian countries namely, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran and more.
India are the most decorated team in the history of the competition in both men's and women's category.
While the Indian men's team won the gold medal seven times out of the eight editions, the women's team bagged first place on four occasions out of five editions.
The only other teams who finished first in the championship are the Iran men's team in 2003 and the South Korean women's team in 2016.
The first-ever men's championship was held in Kolkata, India back in 1980 and the hosts were the inaugural champions.
The first women's competition was held in Hyderabad, India in 2005 and once again it was the hosts who bagged the gold.

The 2023 edition of the Asian Kabaddi Championship will be held in Busan, South Korea between June 27 and 30.
How are India preparing for the Asian Kabaddi Championship?
The Indian men's team have started their preparation for the Asian Kabaddi on May 4 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, Bihar. With 40 probable men's players, the camp will go on until May 18. The selection trials will be conducted at the same venue on May 17.
