Prathamesh Jawkar and Avneet Kaur shone for India as they advanced to the semifinals of the compound men's and women's individual events respectively at the Archery World Cup Stage 2 in Shanghai on Thursday.
In the individual compound quarterfinal, 19-year-old Jawkar delivered an impressive performance to defeat the eighth-seeded Korean Choi Yonghee by a score of 149-148.

His next challenge will be against Robin Jaatma from Estonia in the semi-final.
Meanwhile, Avneet, who is 18 years old, caused an upset in the pre-quarterfinals by defeating the top-seeded Korean Oh Yoohyun in a nail-biting shoot-off after their scores were tied at 142-142 (10*-10).
In the quarterfinals, Avneet continued to excel, defeating Dafne Quintero of Mexico with a score of 147-144. Her opponent in the last-four will be Ella Gibson from England. Both the archers are just one win away from their first individual World Cup medal.
However, in the team events, the Indian contingent of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Atanu Das and Neeraj Chauhan were defeated 0-6 (54-55, 56-57, 54-59) by the top-seeded Korean team of Lee Woo Seok, Kim Je Deok and Kim Woojin.

Meanwhile, the women's team, which comprised Simranjeet Kaur, Avneet, and Ankita Bhakat, were nowhere near their best and made a first-round exit by losing to Indonesia 1-5 (54-57, 57-57, 50-52).
Indian aspirations in the recurve team events will now rely on the combined efforts of Dhiraj Bommadevara and Simranjeet Kaur in the mixed pair category.
Securing the fifth position in the qualifiers has granted them a direct entry into the second round (pre-quarterfinals) of the recurve mixed team draw, consisting of 32 teams.
