Meanwhile, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin Deotale came up with an incredible performance to defeat top seeds Korean team of Oh Yoohyun and Kim Jonghoclinch in the final of the compound mixed team event at the 2023 Archery World Cup stage 2, in Shanghai on Saturday.
This was the Indian duo's second World Cup gold medal of the 2023 season.
The Indians edged out their opponents 156-155 in a thriller gold medal decider to finish atop the podium in the season's second World Cup. They had won a gold in the season-opener in Antalya last month as well.

However, it must be noted that archery powerhouse South Korea had excused themselves from the Antalya World Cup, which ensured that the Indians had a slightly easier run.
Saturday's final began with both teams in top form, as they consistently scored 39 points out of 40 in each of the first three rounds.
While Vennam was on target right from the start, the young Deotale took some time to find his rhythm, resulting in a couple of 9-point shots in the early stages.
However, when Vennam failed to hit the bull's eye and settled for a couple of 9s, Deotale quickly compensated with a perfect 10. The final round began with a tie score of 117-117. Vennam sealed the victory for India with a crucial 10-point shot in her final arrow, while Korea missed the 10 by a whisker and the attempt was adjudged as a 9.
Vennam and Deotale secured their place in the final of the compound mixed team event after a thrilling shootoff victory against Italy. Prior to that, the Indian team had overcome challenges from Bangladesh (158-151) and Turkey (157-156) in the earlier rounds to advance to the semi-finals.

In the third round, Kaur further extended the lead to 88-85.
In the fourth round, both archers shot 29 which helped Kaur to maintain her three-point lead.

She had been in exceptional form throughout the tournament as she beat top-seeded Korean Oh Yoohyun 142-142 (10*-10, shot closer to centre) to progress to the last eight. In the quarter-finals, she brushed aside Mexico’s Dafne Quintero 147-144 to set up a semi-final clash with Great Britain’s World No.1 Ella Gibson.
However, she lost 146-144 to Gibson, who was eventually defeated comprehensively (140-146) in the final by 11th-seed Su A Cho of Korea.
