The second day of the Archery World Championships 2023 did not go well for the Indian archers as the men's and women's recurve teams failed to secure qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The tournament offers qualifying places for the Paris Olympics next year for the top three finishers in individual as well as team events.

How did the Indians perform at the Archery World Championships 2023?
Both the men's and women's recurve teams failed to book berths in the 2024 Paris Olympics after exiting from the quarter-final stage.
The men’s recurve team consisting of archers Dhiraj Bommadevara, Rajat Chauhan and Tushar Shelke lost to India’s rivals Korea 1-5 (49-55, 57-57, 53-55).
The women’s recurve triumvirate consisting of Bhajan Kaur, Ankita Bhakat and Simranjeet Kaur lost to Netherlands 2-6 (49-48, 52-53, 48-50, 54-57). They were initially 2-0 but failed to hold on to their lead losing the remaining three.
The performance of the recurve mixed team of Bommadevara and Ankita Bhakat was also disappointing after they exited from the last 16 stage. The duo had received a bye into the last-16 stage but they then lost to lower-ranked Italy 4-5 (35-37, 36-35, 39-37, 34-36) (16-17).

What next for India at the Archery World Championships 2023?
After the disappointing performances by the men's and women's recurve teams, all eyes will be on the individual events now.
Indian Army officer Bommadevara will spearhead India's individual challenge. He grabbed the second seed in the qualification round of the men’s individual recurve category.
