Jalen Suggs, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, is set to miss an extended period of time.

The Orlando Magic rookie suffered a fractured thumb on Monday night in a five-point loss to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Late in the fourth quarter, Suggs drove to the basket and appeared to sustain the injury after contact from 76ers center Joel Embiid. 

Suggs was seen grabbing his thumb on the way back down the floor and was taken out of the game shortly after.  What's next for Suggs? Here's everything we know about his injury.

What is Jalen Suggs' injury?

After undergoing testing, Suggs was diagnosed with a fractured right thumb .

How long is Jalen Suggs out? 

According to  ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Suggs' thumb will not require surgery. He will be re-evaluated every two weeks to gauge how it's healing.

Suggs has been durable through the first portion of his rookie season, only missing one game against the Atlanta Hawks with a right ankle sprain. 

Through the first 22 games of the season, Suggs is averaging 12.3 points, 3.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 27.7 minutes per game.

Magic upcoming schedule

The Magic enter their Dec. 1 game against the Nuggets with a 4-18 record, placing them at the bottom of the standings in the Eastern Conference with the worst record in the league.

Following their home game against Denver, they face a tough road that includes matchups against the Warriors, Clippers and Lakers.
