Team India have opened their medal tally at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. After bagging a record seven medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Indian contingent strikes off on the second day of the Paris Olympics 2024. 

A first medal at the 2024 Olympics means India has now won a total of 36 Olympics Medals in history. As the Paris Olympics progresses, Team India would hope to win as many medals as possible, but the foundation has been laid, as India wins its fifth-ever Olympic medal in shooting.

Who won India's first medal at Paris Olympics 2024?

22-year-old, Haryana-born shooter, Manu Bhaker wins India its first medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. India wins yet another medal in Shooting, as Manu Bhaker takes third on the podium at the Paris Olympics 2024. 

Participated in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event, Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in Shooting. She stood third in the final of the Women's 10m Air Pistol event on Sunday.

What happened in the Women's 10m Air Pistol at Paris Olympics 2024?

Manu Bhaker finished third with an aggregate points tally of 221.7, after 22 shots. She claimed bronze, after missing out on the Silver medal by the slenderest of margin, of 0.1 aggregate points. Manu's ride was on the high, as she was second before the final shot for the bronze.

In the final shot in the quest of the Bronze, Korean debutant Kim Yeji shot 0.2 points more than Manu, resulting in a Bronze for the 22-year-old, and for India. The Indian youngster was at the second position for a large part of the final, eventually settled for Bronze. 

Nevertheless, India's first medal at the Olympics 2024 has finally been secured.
