In Tokyo, they went on to reach the semi-final and eventually won the Bronze medal, first accolade in Hockey in more than four decades in the Olympics.
Enroute the knockout stage, the Indians managed to win three matches including beating giants Australia 3-2 in their final group game. They picked up a win against the mighty Aussies for the first time in 52 years in the Olympics.
They also drew against New Zealand and narrowly suffered a defeat at the hands of Belgium.
