First-year head coach of the New York Knicks, Tom Thibodeau has been awarded the 2020-21 Coach of the Year award.
The veteran coach led the Knicks to a 41-31 record during the regular season, helping the franchise reach the postseason for the first time since 2013.

The award is the second major individual award of the offseason for the franchise, with Julius Randle already pocketing the Most Improved Player award.
The Knicks were eventually eliminated in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks, in what was still an incredibly successful season for the team who transformed their image, particularly on the defensive end of the floor.
This is the second NBA Coach of the Year Award for Thibodeau, who earned the honor in the 2010-11 season with the Chicago.

Thibodeau received 43 first-place votes and earned 351 total points to edge Phoenix head coach Monty Williams.

Thibodeau received 43 first place votes and 351 total points to finish just ahead of Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams who actually polled 45 first place votes.
It's the second Coach of the Year award for Thibodeau, who was previously head coach of the Chicago Bulls for five seasons and the Minnesota Timberwolves for three.
Thibodeau holds a career record of 393-277.
