Update: It's now official.

The New Orleans Pelicans are reportedly moving on from head coach Alvin Gentry.

According to ESPN's Andrew Lopez and Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pelicans have dismissed Gentry following a disappointing showing in the season restart. The Pelicans went 2-6 over their eight seeding games, finishing the season with a 30-42 record.

Gentry took over as head coach of the Pelicans in 2015-16. He reportedly had one year remaining on his contract.

Wojnarowski added that Jason Kidd, Ty Lue and Kenny Atkinson are among the coaches expected to be a part of the franchise's search to replace Gentry. Jacque Vaughn is also a candidate should the Brooklyn Nets choose not to retain him.

While they finished the season with one of the worst records in the Western Conference, the Pelicans have an exciting young core featuring Rookie of the Year finalist Zion Williamson and Most Improved Player finalist Brandon Ingram.
