More than a couple of years ago in 2016, when the NBA held its Jr. camp where league players like Robin Lopez and Seth Curry made an appearance, Sejin Mathew, a kid from Kerala, distanced himself from the pack.

In the first of many recognitions to come, he was named MVP of that camp.

A year later, when the NBA completed its extensive six-month search across the country for budding youngsters with tryouts in six major cities (Ludhiana, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata), he was the only prospect from Kerala selected to be part of the inaugural class of 21 for India's NBA Academy.

Mathew rode that momentum and had a stellar 2018 as well. In February of 2018, he was selected along with Princepal Singh and Pushpa Senthil Kumar to feature at the 4th annual Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during the 2018 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles.

Later that year in May, he chipped in with a handy 15 points when Kerala were crowned Champions of the 69th National Junior Basketball Championship.

Currently aged 19, he has represented his state of Kerala at multiple stages at the U-13, U-15 and even the U-19s.

As the video above suggests, Mathew has a unique athletic ability at his height (195 cm) to go with his high basketball IQ. Now, as a graduate of the NBA Academy in India, he transitions to play at the senior level and should not cease to amaze.

Here are a couple of monster dunks he threw down at the recent Senior National Basketball Championship that was held in Bhavnagar, Gujarat:
