While most of India was asleep on the night of Oct. 23, Princepal Singh - for not the first time in 2021 - made huge news on the NBA landscape.
The 20-year-old was picked by the Stockton Kings, the G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, with the 61st pick (Round 3, Pick 5) in the 2021 NBA G League Draft.

With this selection, Princepal becomes the second Indian after Palpreet Singh Brar to be picked in the G League Draft. Palpreet was selected 80th pick overall (4th round, 11th pick) by the Long Island Nets - the G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets - in the 2016 Draft.
Palpreet has been someone Princepal has looked up to and taken advice from. While representing the G League Ignite during the 2021 bubble, he chose the No. 12 - a number Palpreet wore while he donned the national jersey.

By picking Princepal, the Kings will keep the young Indian superstar in-house having had him on their Summer League roster that went on to win the Las Vegas competition back in August.
In the final of the 2021 Summer League, which the Kings dominated 100-67, Singh scored his lone bucket of the competition during his Las Vegas stint with the team.

Scoring in the 2021 Summer League made him the second Indian ever to do so after Satnam Singh Bhamara.
In fact, all through the 2021 calendar year, Princepal has been putting his name alongside Indian basketball greats with his achievements.

The 2021-22 season won't be Princepal's first G League campaign. He participated in the 2021 G League bubble and was part of the G League Ignite's young development core alongside the likes of Jalen Green and Jonathan Kuminga - who were picked in the lottery of the 2021 NBA Draft.
Making an appearance in four games, he totaled nine points, four rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes of court time.
