Singh has finalized a three-year deal with the New Zealand Breakers of the NBL – one of the best professional basketball leagues in the world.

If the NBL sounds familiar, it should.

The same Australian pro league was home to NBA superstar LaMelo Ball for one season prior to being drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 2020. A number of other players have made the leap to the NBA from the NBL, including Australian stars like Joe Ingles and Josh Giddey, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

It's also worth noting that the Orlando Magic's No. 24 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, RJ Hampton, also played for the Breakers, the same team Singh will reportedly sign with.

Singh was originally set to play with the Sacramento Kings' affiliate Stockton Kings in the G League this season, but the move to the NBL will allow him a chance to play alongside other young prospects such as 2022 NBA Draft hopefuls Ousmane Dieng and Hugo Besson.

Singh's signing continues what has been a historic year for India Basketball and the 20-year-old forward, who became the first player of Indian descent to win a championship of any kind at the NBA level when he helped the Sacramento Kings Summer League team take home the title in Las Vegas this past August.

After one season with the G League Ignite, Singh will now take his talents to New Zealand to try and crack the rotation on a team that finished in eighth place in the NBL last season with a 12-24 record.
