Basketball's future takes center stage on Saturday for the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit.
Moda Center has hosted some of the NBA's best talents this season, from LeBron James and Stephen Curry to Victor Wembanyama. And yet, its highest-profile event of the season very well could be Saturday's contest, a platform for some of the game's future greats to announce themselves to the general public.
The competition's history is littered with celestial beings, with Dirk Nowitzki, Nikola Jokic and Wembanyama among the sport's global products to shine in the mid-spring affair. American stars have gravitated to the surface, too, including Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan and John Wall.
The league's latest hopefuls will hope to add to their predecessors' glittering legacy with a strong showing in Portland this weekend. Scouts will also be surveilling their first steps, searching for a franchise-defining star, even if it is on the horizon.
