The NBA's 3 p.m. ET trade deadline on Feb. 8 is quickly approaching.
Some of the bigger names like Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby have already gotten moved, but there are still plenty of quality players on the market who could switch cities.
Dejounte Murray, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are the biggest names in the rumor mill. Role players such as Alex Caruso, Quentin Grimes, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Malcolm Brogdon would be difference-makers if they are traded.
As trades are reported, you can find updated grades for the most notable deals below.
WINNERS & LOSERS: Knicks, Bucks gear up for playoffs; Mavericks take a big swing
NBA trade deadline grades 2024
Knicks trade for Alec Burks, Bojan Bogdanovic
- Knicks receive: Alec Burks, Bojan Bogdanovic
- Pistons receive: Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono, two second-round picks
Knicks trade grade: A-
The Knicks continue to aggressively make upgrades to their team, looking to improve on their No. 4 spot in the East.
Bogdanovic is a great scorer who can make New York a little less reliant on Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle to create so much of the team's offense. His 20.2 points per game and 41.5 percent shooting from 3 should make the Knicks much more dangerous.
Burks is a veteran 3-and-D wing who has hit 40.1 percent from 3 this season. He looked like he dropped off a bit defensively this season. Maybe he gets back to his previous level after reuniting with Tom Thibodeau, whom he spent two seasons playing for.
The Knicks did well here in adding two pieces for a pretty low price.
Pistons trade grade: B+
Grimes is the best piece back in this deal for Detroit. He’s a starting-level young wing who is a good defender and 3-point shooter.
In the limited times where he’s been allowed to try and do more with the ball, Grimes hasn’t shown much. But he has insisted that he is ready for a bigger role, and maybe he shows that capacity with more opportunity. Even if he doesn’t improve, he’s still a useful rotation player at worst.
Flynn and Arcidiacono are both limited point guards without much upside. Arcidiacono is a great locker room guy who can help some of the young guards in Detroit.
Fournier was included for salary-matching purposes. He hasn’t played much in recent years. He will get a chance to resurrect his career in Detroit.
Bucks trade for Patrick Beverley
- Bucks receive: Patrick Beverley
- Sixers receive: Cameron Payne, 2027 second-round pick
Bucks trade grade: B
The Bucks badly needed an upgrade in their perimeter defense. Beverley isn't the All-Defensive guard that he once was, but he's still very solid at that end of the floor. He also brings an edge that the team could use.
His reticence to shoot makes him difficult to play for extended periods in the playoffs. He'll have to let it fly more frequently.
Sixers trade grade: B
Beverley was only averaging 19.6 minutes per game, and the Sixers needed to clear room after trading for Buddy Hield.
Payne probably won't play a lot for the team. Getting a second-round pick for Beverley gives Daryl Morey a chance to make more upgrades to the roster down the line.
Thunder trade for Gordon Hayward
- Thunder receive: Gordon Hayward
- Hornets receive: Tre Mann, Davis Bertans, Vasilije Micic, draft compensation
Thunder trade grade: A-
Hayward has quietly put up a very productive season for the Hornets, averaging 14.5 points, 4.6 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game. He’s still a good shooter, hitting 36.1 percent of his 3s this year.
Health has been his biggest issue — he’s averaged under 49 games over his past four seasons. If he can stay on the floor, he fits well with the Thunder’s drive-heavy offense.
The cost for the Thunder here was minimal. They still keep their massive war chest of assets for a bigger move while giving them a little extra oomph in the playoffs. Hayward is on an expiring deal. If he ends up fitting, they can bring him back at a lower number over the summer.
Hornets trade grade: A-
Mann is a promising young player who was buried by the Thunder’s rotation depth. The 18th pick in the 2021 draft is a good shot-creator from the guard position with some shifty ballhandling skills that allow him to create space. He’s a natural scorer who should get a chance to show what he can do on the Hornets.
Micic is a good point guard who hasn't been able to crack the Thunder rotation either. The veteran will give the Hornets a nice pick-and-roll ballhandler and fun passer.
Bertans was included in this deal as salary filler. He's a 3-point gunner whose porous defense makes him difficult to keep on the floor.
Mavericks swap Grant Williams for PJ Washington
- Mavericks receive: PJ Washington, two second-round picks
- Hornets receive: Grant Williams, Seth Curry, first-round pick
Mavericks grade: B
After a nice start to the season, Williams' play had fallen off considerably. The Mavericks couldn't wait for him to recover, and so they made a theoretical upgrade in acquiring Washington.
Washington is a plus offensive player who can do a little bit of everything. He's a good shot-creator who has struggled from 3 this year but hit 35.9 percent for his career. His defense has been up-and-down.
Hornets grade: B
Getting a first-round pick and a young player back for Washington isn't a bad return. They also get a chance to rehabilitate Williams' value. He's still a young player at age 25 that looked like he could be part of a playoff rotation.
Curry is on an expiring salary. The veteran likely doesn't fit into the Hornets' long-term plans, but he gets a return to his hometown for the rest of the year.
Mavericks trade for Daniel Gafford
- Mavericks receive: Daniel Gafford
- Wizards receive: Richaun Holmes, 2024 first-round pick
Mavericks trade grade: B+
Gafford is a quality starting center in the league, replicating many of the things that rookie Dereck Lively II has done for the Mavericks.
Dallas now has two great lob threats and shot blockers, one of whom it can keep on the floor at all times. Lively and Gafford rank seventh and eighth, respectively, in dunks so far this season. This is going to be fun.
Wizards trade grade: A
It makes sense to move off Gafford for a Wizards team going nowhere. A first-round pick is good value back.
Celtics trade for Xavier Tillman
- Celtics receive: Xavier Tillman
- Grizzlies receive: Lamar Stevens, 2027 second-round pick via Atlanta, 2030 second-round pick via Dallas
Celtics trade grade: B+
The Celtics didn’t have a ton of avenues to add talent to their rotation, but Tillman’s $1.9 million salary made him a nice small target to add to the team’s big-man depth. He’s good insurance in the event that Al Horford or Kristaps Porzingis gets hurt.
Tillman provides excellent defense and rebounding off the bench. He’s not a big scorer, but he’s a tough role player who can do the dirty work. Stevens wasn’t in the Celtics’ rotation, and Tillman has a chance to break in there.
Grizzlies trade grade: B+
Tillman is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. Keeping him for the duration of a lost season didn’t make much sense. Stevens will also be a free agent. The Grizzlies need bodies, so he'll get a look to see if he's worth keeping around next year.
The Grizzlies are stockpiling second-round picks in exchange for their veterans, which is what they probably should be doing. This gives them even more flexibility to make a bigger move down the line.
Raptors trade for Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji
- Raptors receive: Kelly Olynyk, Ochai Agbaji
- Jazz receive: Kira Lewis Jr., Otto Porter Jr., 2024 first-round pick
Raptors trade grade: B
Olynyk is a good veteran, as Canadians know from his time on the national team. He's helped the Jazz with his shotmaking and passing this season. But he doesn't make any sense on this Raptors team, which sits at 18-33.
If the Raptors liked Olynyk, they could have signed him this summer without having to sacrifice a pick — he will be a free agent.
That pick won't be great — it's the worst out of the Thunder, Clippers, Rockets and Jazz in 2024, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, which means it will fall in the late '20s. And the 2024 draft is supposed to be weak.
Agbaji makes this deal a little more palatable for the Raptors. He's a solid two-way wing who has shot 34.6 percent from 3 in two seasons with the Jazz. Taken with the 14th pick in the 2022 draft after a four-year run with Kansas, he doesn't have a ton of upside, but he can turn into a nice role player on the wing for the Raptors.
Jazz trade grade: B
I'm surprised that this is the best the Jazz could get for both Agbaji and Olynyk.
Kira Lewis Jr. hasn't done much since being drafted 13th in 2020, partially due to poor luck with injuries. He projected as a good defender and a speedy guard. He'll get a chance to bolster the Jazz' guard depth.
Porter has had even worse injury luck. He's played in only 23 games over the past two seasons. He was a good piece of the Warriors championship run in 2022, but you can never count on him to be healthy.
Raptors and Nets swap point guards
- Raptors receive: Spencer Dinwiddie
- Nets receive: Dennis Schroder, Thaddeus Young
Raptors trade grade: B-
In trading for veterans Olynyk and now Dinwiddie, it appears that Masai Ujiri is clearing up cap space to be able to make a big move over the summer. Dinwiddie will be waived, per Shams Charania.
The team's first-round pick is top-six protected. They're currently tied for the sixth-worst record in the league, giving them a 34.5 percent shot at jumping into the top four and keeping it. They don't have great point guard play behind Immanuel Quickley now, but maybe it doesn't matter.
Nets trade grade: B-
The Nets are exchanging one prickly point guard for another. Dinwiddie looked like he was giving minimal effort in Brooklyn this season. Maybe Schroder does better.
Schroder signed a two-year deal with the Raptors, whereas the Nets were going to get off Dinwiddie's contract after this season.
The German point guard has had a decent year, hitting 35.0 percent of his 3s and averaging 6.1 assists. He's a good defender when engaged and can get into the paint with his quick first step. This deal was probably more about getting rid of Dinwiddie than acquiring Schroder.
Sixers trade for Buddy Hield
- Sixers receive: Buddy Hield
- Pacers receive: Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz, three second-round picks
Sixers trade grade: A-
Daryl Morey almost always goes for it during trade deadlines. He lived up to his reputation, getting one of the best shooters in the league.
Hield is a career 40.1 percent 3-point gunner who can hit them off movement. He should help the Sixers improve from their No. 27 ranking in 3-pointers made.
Hield is a quality starter who should help add some punch while Joel Embiid is out of the lineup post-knee surgery. The price — two guys who weren't playing and some future seconds — is well worth the upgrade to the roster.
Pacers trade grade: C
Hield had demanded a trade earlier in the season when he couldn't come to terms on an extension with the Pacers. Since then, he had balled out and become an essential part of their team.
Losing one of their most important players in exchange for expiring contracts in Morris and Korkmaz, along with some second-round picks, doesn't seem like it would be worth the squeeze.
The Pacers, sitting in sixth place before the trade, may fall into Play-In range now. That would be a bitter disappointment for what was one of the most fun teams in the league.
Pacers trade for Doug McDermott
- Pacers receive: Doug McDermott
- Spurs receive: Marcus Morris, second-round pick, cash
Pacers trade grade: B
The Pacers got a Hield replacement in McDermott later in the day. He's still a great shooter, hitting 43.9 percent of his 3s this season. He's also a terrible defender who will make the team's defensive issues even more pronounced.
Spurs trade grade: B+
McDermott was on an expiring contract, so he was probably going to walk for nothing. Getting a second-round pick and some cash back for him is a nice piece of business. Morris going to the Spurs had the potential to be a little awkward given their checkered history, but he's expected to be bought out.
Wolves trade for Monte Morris
- Wolves receive: Monte Morris
- Pistons receive: Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr., 2030 second-round pick (via Minnesota),
Wolves trade grade: A-
Morris has been one of the better backup point guards in the league for a while now. He's barely played this year due to injury, but he was back in Detroit's lineup over the past six games.
He's one of the least mistake-prone guards in the league. He rarely turns it over, and he has good court vision. He's also a career 38.9 3-point shooter. He'll give the Wolves good playoff minutes.
Pistons trade grade: B
The Pistons just traded a second-rounder for Morris this offseason, so they get another one to replace the one that they sent out.
Milton is a promising young guard who didn't pan out for the Wolves. Brown is another young player who will be on his fifth team in six years. Both are on non-guaranteed deals, so the Pistons get a free look at them for the rest of the year.
Suns trade for Royce O’Neale, David Roddy
- Suns receive: Royce O’Neale, David Roddy
- Nets receive: Salaries, three second-round picks
- Grizzlies receive: TBD
Suns trade grade: B+
The Suns had very little to make moves with, but they found a way to add two players who could add to the weakest part of their rotation.
O'Neale is a solid defender and good 3-point shooter who has canned 36.6 percent of his looks from deep this season. Roddy is in a similar mold in theory, but he's hit only 30.4 percent of his 3s over his two-year career and has been a bit of a disappointment. He's a burly player who can give the team some defensive versatility, though.
Nets trade grade: TBD
Grizzlies trade grade: TBD
Pistons trade for Simone Fontecchio
- Pistons receive: Simone Fontecchio
- Jazz receive: Kevin Knox, 2024 second-round pick via Wizards, draft rights to Gabriele Procida
Pistons trade grade: C-
Fontecchio is a nice role player. He's averaged 8.9 points in 23.2 minutes per game this year for the Jazz, shooting a very solid 39.1 percent from 3. But this trade doesn't make a ton of sense for Detroit.
Fontecchio will be a 28-year-old restricted free agent this summer. The Pistons are still very clearly far away from being a competitive team. Sure, it would be nice to improve from their status as one of the worst teams in NBA history, but they could have simply gone after him this summer without having to sacrifice a pick.
Jazz trade grade: B+
The Jazz have been one of the hottest teams in basketball. After starting off 7-16, they've rallied to 26-26.
They were realistic about their playoff chances and got what they could for Fontecchio. The Wizards' pick, currently projected at No. 32 overall, will surely be near the top of the second round.
Procida was picked with the 36th pick in the 2022 draft and is currently playing overseas in Germany. He's a decent young wing with real NBA prospects.
Utah is deep enough that it won't miss Fontecchio too much, and building up its future now is more important than winning one or two extra games with him during the regular season.
Rockets trade for Steven Adams
- Rockets receive: Steven Adams
- Grizzlies receive: Victor Oladipo, three second-round picks
Rockets trade grade: B+
This is a trade made for next year, as Adams is out for the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery.
If the 30-year-old big man can get back to prime health, then he gives Houston a reliable starting center who can play tough defense, set the best screens in the league and rebound the ball. He fits well into the culture that coach Ime Udoka is trying to foster.
Grizzlies trade grade: B
The Grizzlies have been decimated by injuries. It's clearly not their year, and pivoting toward the future makes sense.
Oladipo hasn't played this season and is on an expiring deal. Getting him off the books will create some breathing room for Memphis, who would otherwise have been near the punitive second apron.
Losing Adams, a valuable rotation player, certainly hurts. He was a great pairing with Jaren Jackson Jr., hiding some of Jackson's rebounding flaws. This was a cost-cutting move first and foremost. But getting three second-rounders back for him sets them up nicely for the future.
