NBA Free Agency 2019: Sacramento Kings' Harrison Barnes declines player option for 2019-20 season, becomes unrestricted free agent image

Sacramento Kings' forward Harrison Barnes is set to become an unrestricted free agent by declining his $25.1M player option for the 2019-20 season, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Barnes was traded to the Kings from the Dallas Mavericks during the mid-season trade window. In the 28 games he played for the Kings, he averaged 14.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists on 45.5% shooting from the field.

Wojnarowski's report further suggests that Barnes is looking for a long-term deal and is open to exploring one with the Kings.

Barnes, who just completed the third season of his four-year contract, had signed with the Mavericks in the summer of 2016.

Prior to that, he spent the first four seasons of his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors, who drafted him 7th overall in the 2012 Draft. Making it to the All-Rookie First Team (2013), he went on to play a key supporting role in the Warriors squad that won the 2015 NBA Championship.

Earlier this year in April, during the 2019 postseason, Barnes visited India to promote the continued growth of basketball in the country and the upcoming NBA India Games 2019. During his stay in the country, he visited the Taj Mahal, spent a couple of exciting days in Mumbai, and attended a couple of events in the Reliance Foundation Jr. NBA National Finals and the National Finals of the fourth ACG-NBA Jump (India's national basketball talent search program).
