The 2022 NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse will be the 71st edition of the game.
In the history of the NBA All-Star Game, only three players have been named an All-Star more than 15 times.
Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar leads the all-time charts for most ever All-Star selections. He was named to 19 All-Star Games during his 20 seasons in the league, not making it to the mid-season blockbuster event only in the 1977-78 season.

Where does LeBron James rank for most NBA All-Star selections?
LeBron James is one of the three players to have more than 15 All-Star selections to his name. He ranks second, tied with the late great Kobe Bryant for 18 All-Star Game selections, including the 2021-22 edition.
James has made the All-Star Game in every season of his career except for his rookie year. With respect to actually playing in All-Star Games, 18 is the all-time NBA record and James is tied with Abdul-Jabbar for that tally.
Players | All-Star Game selections | All-Star Game MVPs | |
1. | Kareem Abdul-Jabbar | 19 | - |
2. | LeBron James | 18 | 3 |
Kobe Bryant | 18 | 4 | |
4. | Tim Duncan | 15 | 1 |
Kevin Garnett | 15 | 1 | |
Shaquille O'Neal | 15 | 3 | |
7. | Dirk Nowitzki | 14 | - |
Michael Jordan | 14 | 3 | |
Karl Malone | 14 | 2 | |
Jerry West | 14 | 1 |
Of his previous 17 appearances, James has been named the All-Star Game MVP three times. His tally is tied for third-best all-time, along with Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neal and Oscar Robertson, and only one behind the all-time record of four, which is jointly held by Bob Pettit and Bryant.
James is the only active player among the top 10 for the most selections in NBA All-Star Game history.
The next highest-ranked active players are Kevin Durant and Chris Paul, who are tied in 15th place with their 12 All-Star selections.
Can James break the all-time record? He is currently under contract for one more season (2022-23), which will only allow him to tie Abdul-Jabbar's record, not surpass it.
