Kyle Lowry injury update: Will Heat guard play in Game 2 vs. 76ers? image

The Miami Heat will have to continue to navigate without veteran point guard Kyle Lowry against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Lowry has been sidelined since Game 4 of the Heat's first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks, out with a nagging left hamstring injury.

The Heat have yet to lose a game without Lowry, defeating the Hawks in Games 4 and 5 before taking care of business against the shorthanded 76ers in Game 1 of the second round.

Will Lowry be available for Game 2 against Philadelphia? Here's what we know below.

Will Kyle Lowry play in Game 2 vs. 76ers?

The Heat announced that Lowry is out for Game 2 against the 76ers.

His next opportunity to play will be Friday, May 6 when the Heat travel to Lowry's home city of Philadelphia for Game 3.

What is Kyle Lowry's injury?

After Game 3 against the Hawks, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters that Lowry injured his hamstring.

The injury appeared to happen in the third quarter of that Game 3 loss. Instead of exiting to the locker room, Lowry stayed on Miami's bench for the rest of the game.

Hamstring injuries could take some time to heal, and Lowry has already missed four games (including the upcoming Game 2) as a result of this injury.

It of course depends on the severity but for context, Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker was sidelined with a hamstring injury and only missed three games in their first-round series with the Pelicans.

"I know we love that guy as our point guard," Jimmy Butler told reporters. "If he's with us, yippee-ki-yay. If he's not, somebody has got to step in and do his job.

"It's very, very hard to do. But we got enough in that locker room to try to bring to the table what Kyle does. He'll get his treatment and we'll see where he's at."

Kyle Lowry injury history

At 36 years old and in his 17th season, Lowry has had his fair of injuries throughout his illustrious career. This season, however, Lowry has been able to stay injury-free.

Lowry did miss some time earlier in the season after being placed in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocol. He also missed several games due to personal reasons.

Lowry played in 63 games for the Heat this season. He averaged 13.4 points and 7.5 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from three.
