The Heat have gotten out to a commanding 2-0 series lead over the 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and Kyle Lowry could soon be on the way to add more help.

Lowry, who has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in Game 3 of the opening round, is reportedly nearing a return to action.

Miami has held its own in Lowry's absence, closing out the Hawks in five games and taking the first two games from the Sixers, who are also shorthanded.

Will Lowry be available to play in Game 3? Here is the latest on his status.

Will Kyle Lowry play in Game 3 vs. 76ers?

Lowry was initially listed as questionable for Game 3, an upgrade from his status for the Heat's last four games.

Lowry, a native of North Philadelphia, has typically been one to relish an opportunity to play in his hometown. Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals will be played at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center.

In the hours leading up to Game 3, Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said Lowry would warm up with the intention of returning. After he warmed up, it was announced that Lowry would be back in the starting lineup.

What is Kyle Lowry's injury?

In the third quarter of a Game 3 loss to the Hawks in the opening round of the playoffs, Lowry suffered what was ruled as a strained left hamstring.

With the injury sustained on Friday, April 22, Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals marks two weeks to the date of Lowry's injury.

All injuries vary in severity but for context, Suns All-Star guard Devin Booker was sidelined with a hamstring injury and only missed three games in their first-round series with the Pelicans, returning after nine days.

Kyle Lowry injury history

At 36 years old, Lowry has had his fair share of injuries throughout his 17-year career. This season, however, Lowry has been able to stay relatively injury-free.

Lowry did miss some time earlier in the season after being placed in the NBA's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. He also missed several games due to personal reasons.

Lowry played in 63 games for the Heat this season. He averaged 13.4 points and 7.5 assists while shooting 44 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from three.
