The No. 8 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft was the only player of the four contestants to participate in this competition for a second time while the others were first timers.
“Last year, me just getting out there and having an opportunity to be there, it was amazing. Even though it wasn’t a regular year, it was still a blessing to be in the position I was in,” Toppin said on the morning of the Dunk Contest.
Toppin advanced to the finals by posting 90 out of a possible 100 points across two dunks. His tally led the quartet of contestants which also included Jalen Green (83) and Cole Anthony (70).
Toscano-Anderson joined Toppin in the final round with his first-round tally of 87.
